What it's for

The table of links keys us into posts that are worthy of sharing. This can be as a request for moderation, or to point out a post that demonstrates the shortcomings of Slashdot particularly well.

There are several categories to put links in:

  • None: Post doesn't fit in any other category.
  • Mod Down: Request that fellow jihadis moderate a post down. A good use of this is when someone is calling out a database repost- others can moderate if Offtopic to reduce visibility of naysayers.
  • Mod Up: Request that fellow jihadis moderate a post up.
  • Editor Mistake: Link demonstrates an editor mistake.
  • Dupe: Link points out a duplicate story posting.
  • Slashbotism: Link demonstrates a disgusting display of Slashdot groupthink.
  • Good Post: Post supports the jihad or is congruent with our aims in some way.
  • Slashvertisement: Link is to an example of a blatant advertisment masquerading as a Slashdot story.
  • False Alarm: Link to a story which is an example of Slashdot's sensationalist tactics. Either the story (title/blurb/both) is inappropriately exaggerative and/or inflammatory.

The 'Topic' column of the table has a link for each entry which takes you to the thread for discussing this entry. This provides a single, defined place to make comments on this link submission.

What it's not for

Please try to only submit links that further our cause. The following things are not worthwhile to list:

  • Blatant trolls and crapfloods- posting links to these here doesn't help. Anyone who mods an obvious troll or a crapflood up runs the risk of getting blacklisted by the editors, which will only damage the Jihad as a whole.
  • Posts to moderate that are motivated by an individual's interests. Keep the Jihad clean of your personal social or political agenda. While we as a whole do not necessarily disagree with what you're doing, we want to keep true to our course.

Notes

It's a good idea to be signed in when you add a link, especially if you're requesting moderation- your fellow jihadis are more likely to help out someone they know.

The administrators of the site will delete inappropriate links without warning. When a link is deleted, its discussion thread will be deleted, and the comments on it will become inaccessible as well. Inappropriate links are those which are accidental duplicate submissions (e.g. first submission had a typo in the link, so submitter corrects it with a second one; the first submission will be deleted), or when the link/description is an obvious troll.
